Newsline by DriveLine, Issue 1, week of November 2, 2026

Hello, and welcome to the very first issue of Newsline.

It's Pierre here, and welcome aboard!
I look after communications at DriveLine, where we build sponsorship programs for more than 50 young drivers. From now on, I'll write to you every Monday.

This first week of November is when 2027 starts: titles are settled, a karting world final opens Saturday and 2027 calendars are landing. What you decide in the next four weeks often shapes the next season.

โ–Œ Our drivers of the week

One title fight, two DriveLine drivers. The Ligier JFC (Gen. 2) was settled at Barber, Alabama, on October 17 and 18.

Edward Kennedy ยท Champion

Edward Kennedy (MLT Motorsports) won Race 2 and the title by 13 points, his 11th win of the season. (Racing America)

Jack Speth ยท Vice-champion

Jack Speth (Kiwi Motorsport) won Race 1 with a last-lap pass on Kennedy, then finished second in Race 2. Vice-champion as a rookie, with a podium in all 15 races. (Speedway Media)

Sofรญa Calderรณn ยท ROK Cup Superfinal

Sofรญa Calderรณn (Costa Rica, VLR 100 Junior) finished second on the road in her final at the ROK Cup Superfinal in Lonato, Italy (October 13 to 17), before a penalty moved her to 7th. A month earlier, she won her first car race, in Costa Ricaโ€™s national GT class. (La Repรบblica)

The DriveLine take

Weโ€™re proud of all three. A title, 15 podiums out of 15 and a second place on the road in a world final open the next conversation with partners. A result is worth what you do with it in the next two weeks.

โ–Œ This week's 5 stories

COMING UP ยท November 7โ€“14, 2026 ยท Portimรฃo (Portugal)

432 karters, 60+ countries: the Rotax world final starts Saturday

432 drivers from 60+ countries at the Rotax Grand Finals, Portimรฃo, November 7 to 14

The 26th Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals run from November 7 to 14 in Portimรฃo: 432 drivers from more than 60 countries, in 9 categories from Micro MAX to DD2 Masters.

What are we talking about, exactly?

A world final you canโ€™t simply enter: places are earned through regional Rotax series.

What makes it interesting

Your 2027 national series decides whether a Grand Finals place is even possible.

The DriveLine take

Before committing to a 2027 karting programme, ask how your series sends drivers to the Grand Finals. Know it before the first deposit, not after.

COMING UP ยท Calendars published October 30 ยท 2027 season opens March 5โ€“7

USF2000 2027: a $451,710 prize, and a budget to plan

$451,710: USF2000 champion's scholarship for 2027

The 2027 calendars are out: eight rounds each for USF2000 and USF Pro 2000, from St. Petersburg (March 5โ€“7) to Road America. The USF2000 champion receives a $451,710 scholarship to step up; the USF Pro 2000 champion, $603,000 toward Indy NXT.

What are we talking about, exactly?

The American ladder toward IndyCar, where each title funds the next step.

What makes it interesting

Teams fill their seats over the winter: November is budget month.

The DriveLine take

Only one driver per series wins it. Budget 2027 as if you pay the full season yourself: a plan that only works if you win is not a plan.

COMING UP ยท November 19โ€“22, 2026 ยท Guia Circuit, Macau

Macau: 50 seats, and every one goes through a team

50 seats at the Macau FR and F4 World Cups, November 19 to 22

The FIA FR and F4 World Cups run during the 73rd Macau Grand Prix, November 19โ€“22, on the Guia street circuit. 13 teams were selected for FR (26 cars) and 12 for F4 (24 cars). In FR, each invited team nominates its two drivers.

What are we talking about, exactly?

The most famous street race on the junior ladder.

What makes it interesting

Drivers donโ€™t enter Macau. Teams do.

The DriveLine take

If Macau is on your 2027 wish list, ask every team: were you invited in 2026, and how do you choose your drivers? That invitation is part of what you pay for.

RECENT ยท November 1, 2026 ยท Mexico City (Mexico)

World champion at 20: what Antonelliโ€™s path tells families

20 years, 68 days: youngest F1 world champion ever

Third behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton was enough: Kimi Antonelli clinched the 2026 title with four rounds to spare. At 20 years and 68 days, he beats Sebastian Vettelโ€™s record by three years.

What are we talking about, exactly?

His path: karting from age 7, WSK Super Master Series winner in 2019, the Mercedes Junior Academy, the 2023 Formula Regional European title, one F2 season, F1 in 2025.

What makes it interesting

Mercedes spotted him in karting, years before he drove a car.

The DriveLine take

Academies watch karting, so big international events are a shop window. But donโ€™t build a plan on a call that may never come: fund the next step as if no academy will call.

RECENT ยท October 31โ€“November 1, 2026 ยท Silverstone (United Kingdom)

A transponder penalty, then second by 0.333s

19th to 2nd at the Walter Hayes Trophy, Silverstone

Chris Middlehurst (Team Dolan) finished second in a Walter Hayes Trophy heat, then got a 30-second penalty: race control said his transponder wasnโ€™t working, though he showed on live timing. Dropped to 19th, appeal rejected, he won the last chance race from 19th with 30 overtakes, then finished the final 0.333s behind Tom Mills (KMR Sport).

What are we talking about, exactly?

Formula Fordโ€™s end-of-season knockout, from heats to final.

What makes it interesting

A small piece of kit nearly ended his weekend.

The DriveLine take

Speed canโ€™t fix a box nobody ticked. Before every event, check the dull things: transponder, licence, paperwork. Learn how appeals work before you need one.
